What am I about?
Who I am is a Collaborative Leader, and a Passionate Advocate for Social Change
I am a problem solver and thought leader that specializes in thinking outside the box and using all my energy to improve the lives of vulnerable people.
I have spent the last 18 years working in the human services sector to better the lives of marginalized people and living my belief that we are all in this together. My goal in any job is to leave things better than I found them using my talents and gifts. More than anything, I have a sense of urgency for helping anyone who is struggling.
My sweet spot is in demonstrating how creative, innovative problem-solving around seemingly intractable social issues can drive success for business and society - progress but not at the cost of people.

"My mission is to improve the lives of marginalized humans with an emphasis on building equity in SYSTEMS."
LEADERSHIP
Throughout 2020, I have been engaged in a leadership training program through my workplace called System Lead. During this process, we have been challenged to do a number of activities, including building a personal portfolio. As part of our portfolio, we have been asked to examine how we lead self, lead others and lead in our workplaces. I felt it important to share the results of assessments and through this page, there is also access to my resume and LinkedIn profile which offer a concise review of my work and volunteer accomplishments as well as my formal education and continued learning. Here, you can also find my thoughts on how I lead and the vision I have for improving myself and the human services systems that serve others.
...in the WORKPLACE
One of the most important values I consider when leading in a workplace is that the decisions we make have to serve all involved. For too long in the human services sector, we have built processes and systems that serve some while also harming others. There is also a limit to resources, so we have to be strategic and equitable in building solutions. Finally, no process or system should be in place without being directly informed by the people that are the recipients of the service.
...of SELF
The most important part of leading for myself involves knowing myself and always striving to learn more about anything for which I am involved. I also work to maintain an openness to considering new ideas or new approaches to old problems. I believe in leading from where you are – in your family, among your friends, in your workplace and in the community.
...of OTHERS
My approach to leading others is in understanding that every person has a slightly different approach and diversity on a team brings strength. I like to challenge teammates to think big and thrive leading a team where people understand that creative tension brings growth. No matter the workplace, I am interested in helping teammates grow as people while we get the work done.
